Contributions to Japan's Earthquake & Tsunami Victims

When Japan was hit by one of the strongest earthquake ever recorded, it caused not only a gigantic tsunami but also a serious threat from a damaged nuclear power plant. Needless to say, it wreaked unimaginable havoc to the people and the areas affected.

Our Company, was one of the first international organizations to offer aid to the people of Japan. Here in Manila, the shipping community led by FAME, JMG, and AMOSUP, spearheaded a campaign that began in March for financial assistance to our neighbor country Japan. To date, the funds which are being directed to PJMCC have totalled to around P5M, and still counting.

HFSP, with its office employees and seafarers, took part in this noble undertaking. The fund campaign started on May 10, 2011, and set May 25, 2011 as the deadline for collecting the contributions from the seafarers onboard and employees. Many crew and officers heeded the call and pledged their contributions through emails. At the HFSP Office, a-pass-the-hat way was initiated to collect voluntary contributions. A total amount of USD4,500.00 was collected and deposited into the account of Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council (PJMCC) on May 30, 2011. An additional USD200 was also accounted for after this deposit, making it a total of USD4,700.

Our sincerest thanks to all who participated in this worthy cause. Indeed, it was never too late to give assistance to our neighbor country Japan.

Kudos and Arigato!
