HFSP 2010 Team Building

The HFSP Team Building 2010 workshop was held at the Caliraya Re-creation Center & Resort, Lumban, Laguna on July 23-24, 2010 with all forty two (42) employees participating. It was an exciting package of learning sessions and fun, with the employees putting up entertainment-like moments.

The activity opened with the group naming and flag making contest for the four (4) competing teams - Yellow, Purple, Pink, & Gray. Each team’s creativity was initially put to test through their energetic and roaring cheerdance as they heralded their flag and team’s entry. What followed were gruelling series of group games marked by high team energy and determination. Even the scorching heat failed to dampen everyone’s spirit, as the different teams tested their mettle and harness each member’s strength to rise above the activities and outshine their competitors.

Each team went through the three levels of exercises, namely: Part 1 - Spider’s Web, Air-Lock & Mine Field; Part 2 - Caterpillar Walk, Obstacle Course, Marble Transfer; and Part 3 - Earth Ball Challenge & the Slide Pinoy. Most of these activities proved to be quite tough for the competitors but they remained unshaken due probably to the camaraderie and infectious laughter – at themselves:-) and others - all throughout the games. All participants succeeded in keeping up with the level of the playing field so to speak. The final session was spent evaluating the whole activities and the values learned as an individual participant and as a team, with focus on: communication techniques, decision and problem solving skills, motivation, and teamwork towards achieving group’s objectives.

In the end, only one has to emerge the champion in the team competition. Team Yellow (Hoegh Smile :-) beat the three other teams who found themselves in a very tight race ending up with narrow margins between them. Special awards were also given to MVP Cielo Marco of Accounting/Control, for her display of determination and guts during the games, and to Juliet and Louie of Crew Operations as Most Durable players, for their never-say-die attitude after some near-debilitating acrobats:-) in the playing field.

HFSP Staff looks forward to more teambuilding workshops in the future as we heard clamor for a monthly:-) or annual similar activity from all four corners of HFSP building right after the event.

Truly, the just-concluded HFSP teambuilding event is one for the record in terms of fellowship and fun! This experience of coming together and keeping together provides us a glimpse of what the team is made of today and what it will be as it goes through future work challenges together! (2010-07-28)
